The first stage of the school opened in 1980 while we were still part of the Coffs Parish.  Sisiter Anne Hannigan, of the Mercy Order, was the founding Principal, with an original enrolment of 142 pupils. She was succeeded by another Mercy Sister, Sr Grace Laverty.  Then came  Mr Tom Maginnity who was Principal for many years and was responsible for many improvements to our school..  The present Principle, from January 2006, is Mr Tony Watts.

Further stages were added in 1985 and in 2002.  The later addition was the purposed built library, computer room and communal space.  The school site was extended in 1987 with the purchase of an additional adjacent acre of Crown land. At present the enrolment at Mary Help of Christians Primary School is over 300 students.
